RON ARTIS was a one-time studio musician, music director and composer who worked in Los Angeles with superstars such as Van Halen, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and Michael Jackson. He left L.A. and the industry in 1989, going on to open art galleries in Beverly Hills and Fresno before moving to Hawaii in the early '90s. Since then he has painted more than 800 murals throughout the Islands, as well as dozens of others aboard U.S. Navy warships stationed at Pearl Harbor. In 2003, he moved with his family to Hale'iwa, the only place in the world where he felt he could practice his unique brand of self-expression

He is very serious about his new artistic era “Art on the North Shore." The best surfers bring their broken surf boards to Ron Artis. Ron resurrects them with innovative art work.
